SANSA oversees and contributes to a number of space missions as a way to grow the South African space industry, provide basic services and meet government needs in security, telecommunications, navigation and environmental management. These are principally nanosatellite and small satellite missions that provide optical and synthetic aperture radar data, and are supported by satellite engineering and manufacturing facilities, ground station operations, and data capture and processing services.
