GEO week 2020

Attend GEO Week 2020

GEO Week 2020 will be kicking off virtually on 2 November 2020. The GEO Week 2020 Virtual Industry Track will be a highlight of this year’s event, running from 3-4 November – boasting two days of networking, virtual talks, and ideation sessions with some of the world’s leaders in the Earth observations industry.
Designed to enable access to markets, partners, resources and insights, the event will facilitate attendees connecting with Africa’s Earth observation leaders including ZASpace, AfriGEO, SANSA, and media partner – Space in Africa.

Speakers are carefully selected industry experts and include Rebecca Moore from Google Earth; Prof. Dr. Gilberto Camara, GEO Secretariat Director; Mmboneni Muofhe, Deputy Director-General of Technology Innovation at South Africa’s Department of Science and Innovation and Co-chair of GEO Executive Committee and Andiswa Mlisa, Managing Director of Earth observation at the South African National Space Agency (SANSA).
Accompanied by other global leaders, GEO Week 2020 promises to be the virtual space for solving real-world problems, building mutually beneficial relationships, and polishing industry knowledge through a suite of engaging specialists.

In addition to the impressive line-up of speakers, the 2020 Space-Tech Innovation Challenge finalists will be revealed. The Space-Tech Innovation Challenge began as an effort to drive Africa’s geospatial readiness through local revolutionary talent. Geospatial technologies and data offer immense potential for everything from agriculture and sustainability to retail and insurance, and social development. The Space-Tech Innovation Challenge celebrates the entrepreneurs, game-changing thinkers, and businesses with a zeal for global development and leading technology. Submissions for the 2020 Space-Tech Innovation Challenge close on the 16t October 2020.

The final touch for the GEO Week 2020 Virtual Industry Track will be a suite of company profiles offering six businesses the unique opportunity to showcase their successes on the global virtual stage. Applications close on 21 October 2020.
The GEO Week 2020 will be an exciting opportunity to keep up with the latest in the Earth observations industry and to connect with like-minded specialists regarding geospatial technology and data as a means for public and corporate good. AfriGEO, ZASpace and SANSA look forward to hosting such driven, distinctive stakeholders for this unmatched international event.
