Active Sun unleashes three X-class solar flares within 24 hours

Active area AR2087 on the sun produced two X-class X-ray solar flares on 10-06-2014 and another X-class flare on 11-06-2014. This burst of activity comes after a quiet spell of solar activity over the past few weeks. The two X-class flares of Tuesday were associated with CMEs. A glancing blow from these CMEs is expected to arrive on Earth on 13-06-2014, and may lead to disturbed geomagnetic conditions.
